Physical History
This area, like all others, is much tempered in the smithy of history.
Even today, the agricultural/industrial history is plain for all to see. Mouldering bricks, the remnants of homes old; rain-filled pits below cliffs, the quarries and “delfs” of antiquity, here and there a “scar”, an open caste mine; the old farmhouses, which have survived rain, snow, wind and shine for centuries; the Northern, Anglian, Nordic tongue of the natives.
